Event Details

In 2007, The University of The West Indies, School of Clinical Medicine and Research, (UWI SCMR), The Bahamas launched our research programme with a mission “To facilitate the improvement of health of the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas through clinical research that will produce valuable knowledge for the prevention and management of diseases, and formulation of health policies and programs.”  This year marks our Eleventh Annual Research Day Scientific Conference in which our faculty and students showcase their research projects. The theme for this Research Day is “ Weight Challenges in the Bahamas: Are We the Biggest Losers?”

The two-day event is being held on September 28 – 29, 2017. World renowned international and local speakers, experts in the field of weight management, from a spiritual, dietary, medical and surgical view point have been invited to be a part of the program.  A preconference workshop is planned for the morning of Thursday the 28th September, 2017. It is geared towards “equipping” researchers with the tools necessary for completing their projects and submitting them for publication.

We would like to thank all guests, faculty members, residents,  medical students, nurses and our allied health colleagues for  submitting their abstract. For the residents’ papers the school will award prizes for the  “Best overall presentation”,  “Most National Impact” and  “Most Scientific” papers.  Further details regarding the residents paper competition can be found at this link.

Thank you in advance to all our sponsors, speakers, and participants.
